Tuberculosis, often called TB, is an infection of the lungs that can also occur in other areas of the body. TB can be either acute (short-lived) or chronic and can occur in childhood or adulthood.
TB most commonly affects the lungs and is often present without symptoms until the lung lesions, in which the TB bacteria is growing, become large enough to create problems or be seen on X-ray. The earliest symptoms of TB are usually coughing and flu-like symptoms. Other symptoms include chest pain, difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, decreased appetite, fever, sweats (especially at night), and weight loss. Complications can also occur. These include fluid collection between the lung and the chest wall (pleural effusion), collecting air in the same space (pneumothorax), or even death. Note: TB symptoms sometimes do not occur for up to two years following infection, and the speed of the symptoms varies widely from individual to individual. Types There are two types of TB: pulmonary tuberculosis, which occurs in the lungs; and extrapulmonary tuberculosis, which affects other areas of the body.
TB is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB causes 1,800 deaths per year and 20,000 new cases are reported annually. The primary risk groups are older African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians. Also at greater risk are people with illnesses that decrease immune function, such as alcoholics, malnutrition, diabetics, and people who are HIV positive.
Caution: Drugs that act as immune suppressants, such as corticosteroids, can retrigger tuberculosis.
As with all diseases this did not happen overnight. The very first thing you must do is see a licensed health professional. Find a list of practitioners in your local area here
Here are some things you can discuss with your practitioner:

- Do the Hydrogen Peroxide Protocol to strengthen the immune system: Click here to find out more
- Drink 3oz of Colloidal Silver, three or four times a day for 60 days www.colloidsforlife.com Silver has long been recognised as a powerful natural antibiotic. - Go on a fast to clear your system of toxic waste www.wecarespa.com
Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment.
There are several at-home hydrotherapy treatments. For treating rheumatoid arthritis, we recommended constitutional hydrotherapy (apply two to five times weekly) or a heating compress (apply once daily to affected areas). Please seek the advice of your alternative health care practitioner before undergoing these procedures to make sure they are appropriate for you.
- We recommend regular colonics to remove toxicity from the body. Read more about colonics by clicking here. Find a practitioner here.
- Most of the water that we drink is very acidic and in order to heal our bodies need a more alkaline state. During the programme drink alkalised water, which you can buy from Real Water.
Eat an organic, whole foods diet that emphasizes raw vegetables and pure filtered water. Pears, pear juice, and pear sauce can also be helpful, as pears can help hasten healing of the lungs. Other helpful foods include fenugreek and alfalfa sprouts, garlic, pomegranate, and all forms of fermented milk such as yogurt and kefir.
It is important to not add further toxicity to your system so try to adhere to the following:
- Do not consume any artificial sweeteners, such as Splenda, NutraSweet or Aspartame
- Do not consume high fructose corn syrup or mono-sodium glutamate.
- Do not drink any carbonated beverages.
- Avoid all fast food restaurants.
- Avoid all canned food.
- Eliminate conventional dairy products. The best dairy products are raw, unpasteurised and homogenised dairy from grass fed cows. If this is unavailable, then buy organic dairy.
- Avoid conventional beef. The best beef is organic grass fed beef.
www.grasslandbeef.com The second best is organic meat; this includes beef, veal, lamb, chicken and turkey.
The following supplements are recommended for TB: Vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, Vitamin E, multiminerals, essential fatty acids, zinc, garlic capsules, citrus seed extract, lipotropic formula, deglycerinated licorice, and lung glandulars.
- Take Vitamin D3 50,000-100,000 International Units a day nc.vitaminstrength.com for periods of 4 weeks at a time.
- Wholefood supplements are the best way of ensuring your nutritional needs are met. The best we know on the market is Kevin Trudeau’s “KT Daily” product. You can find more details here.

Garlic is a wonderful drug for in the cure of TB. Thirty cloves of garlic boiled in about eight ounces of milk and two pounds of water should be administered in two doses in the day. But the medicine is ready only when the whole decoction has been reduced to one fourth of its original quantity.
Ayurveda recommends Vasa (adhatoda vasica) for tuberculosis. One ounce of the juice from the leaves of the drug given three in the day with honey provides relief. But the useful drug is Naradiya Mahalakshami Vilasa Rasa which contains traces of gold. It should be administered in three doses of 200 mg each in the day. Swarna Vasant Malati is the drug in cases where there is excessive fever, sweating and burning sensation on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Rudanti (cressa crestca) given in 2 gm. doses twice daily reduces the virulence of the disease.
Drakshasava should be administered in one ounce doses after meals. It should be mixed with an equal quantity of water. Chyavanaprasha Avaleha is another good remedy to give strength to the patient. The dosage in the beginning should be two teaspoonfuls with milk on an empty stomach twice daily, but as the patient gains strength, it should be increased. Long pepper in powdered form should be given in one teaspoonful doses twice daily.
In the initial stages of the disease, when there is dry cough, fever in the night and weakness, the following medicines should be given:
Suvarna Vasanta Malati Rasa 250 mg.
Praval Pishti 500 mg.
Amritasatva 250 mg.
It should be administered with preserve (murabba) of amla, three times a day.
In case there is bleeding then the following drugs should be administered.
(1) Vasantamalati 120 mg.
To be taken in morning and evening with goat’s milk.
In cases of high temperatures of tuberculosis, the following prescriptions should be administered:
(1) Muktapanchamrita 120 mg.

(2) Chandramrita 1 gm.
Sitopaladi 12 gm.

Ginseng – studies have shown it reduces inflammation in the lungs and improves the lung’s tissues.
Medicinal Mushrooms are another popular Chinese remedy. Reishi and Cordyceps are popular choices:
Reishi has been found to have a healing effect on the lungs. When more than 2000 Chinese suffering from chronic bronchitis took reishi syrup, within just two weeks 60 –90% felt better, according to “Medicinal mushrooms,” by Christopher Hobbs, published in Herbs for Health, Jan/Feb 97. Researchers have found that reishi has anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antioxidant properties.
Cordyceps has shown positive results in fighting against cough, chronic bronchitis and asthma. It relaxes bronchial walls and has anti-inflammatory properties.
Acupuncture is also recommended.
Inhaling the vapours of the essential oils bergamot, camphor, eucalyptus, lavender, hyssop, or marjoram during an asthma attack can often quickly help to resolve symptoms. The essential oil of frankincense has a calming effect. The oils can be used in an oil burner or on a compress.
To ensure positive results, always check that the essential oil is a 100% pure plant distillation and that it comes from a reputable source.
